“Accessories are important and becoming more and more important every day. They can completely change the look of an outfit, and women like the idea of having a wardrobe that’s versatile. For instance, a strong piece of jewelry can make a simple outfit look elegant.”

–            Giorgio Armani

Bang on. Of course, we all have those fashion pieces that we truly adore. The big beads, the colorful charms, the stones and the chains.. we make up our best outfits using some key pieces.

But we never forget our classic pieces. Usually, they are our pieces of jewelery that our most important to us. They have sentimental value, and have belonged to us for so long, that they are almost a part of us. Some have stories, some remind us of special people, and some are just to pretty to not wear every day. I never see Kaylee Pare without her signature rings, or Ariela Moyal without her Tiffany’s key. Some things just become part of our everyday style, where we feel naked without them. Here is a post on my favorite and most important pieces : )

My Nonna gave these to me not long ago. Although they are not part of my everyday get-up, they are some of my favorite earrings.

My trademark elephant ring. Not many days go by where I don't look down at my typing fingers without seeing this on one of them. A gift from my first communion that I will most definitely never part without! The second ring was my late grandmothers gift to my mama, and has now been passed down to me. It has 7 rings which represent the 7 days of the week (or my 7 besties if we want to update the meaning) and is connected by a dangling heart. I don't usually wear one of these 2 rings without the other one.

The first necklace which has the charms of a cross, an anchor, and a heart represent the three theological virtues of faith, hope and charity/love respectively. I believe I've had this charm since my baptism at a few months old. The amethyst charm was also my mother's. On the right is my fendi charm that I bought on my trip to Florence a couple of summers ago. It has my initial on it.

Lastly, my Citizens of Hope bracelet that my bestie Kaylee Pare got me this past Christmas as my Secret Santa gift. I've been wearing it with my gold link bracelet, which also dates back to my Holy first communion and confirmation days. #ohtobeitalian. This one also has a little heart pendent on the clasp.

What jewelry do you wear every day?

Crayola and Studs August 26, 2010

My bestie’s bday was this past weekend… and not only did we have a fabulous time, but I have to say we had FABULOUS outfits!

I wore a french connection crayola box inspired top, paired with a multi chain and coin metal necklace, a black fitted bdg skirt, and the most sexual Sam Edelman pumps studded and jeweled on the back counter and down the heel. I am truly, madly, deeply, in love with them. I swiped my card seconds after I had them on my feet… but after wearing them for just a few short hours (not to mention I hairsprayed the back counter to keep the jewels secure, and even put clear nail polish over the clamps) I lost 5 of the jewels!! 😦 😦 They weren’t cheap – so back to Browns they went. At least I have picture proof that I once owned these amazing pieces of ART!

Miss Kaylee wore a bcbg dress and necklace, a banana republic bracelet, and sexy black nine west pumps. Looking drop dead gorgeous – as usual. Check her out here!!

I figured I would do some PR for both our blogs by doing my first outfit post. Let me know what you guys think!

The beautiful birthday girl and I!

Hot Mess May 27, 2010

With the recent beautiful weather in the 514 this past week, how could you not want to be wearing the brightest clothes you can find? I’ve been on the hunt for some hot pink recently, and although I haven’t fully committed myself due to time and budget constraints, these are some looks that I’m currently lusting. Isabel Marant’s Spring 2010 RTW were oh-so-inspiring, I included some of my favorite pieces from the show, but click here for the entire collection 🙂

Way to go Kristin Cav

I decided to temporarily fill the hot pink void with this Victoria Secret bikini.. so far it's carried me over. It comes in a bunch of neon colors, for a great price. Everyone's bikini collection should consist of one of these swimsuits- any color will do!

Although Jessica Szohr opted for Neon Green, she definitely earned an honorable mention in my books with this Juicy chiffon dress. Not only does it look amazing on her, but her accessories are STELLAR! My girl Kaylee @ Crystal Blossoms would approve of this jewelry ensemble 🙂

Floral and the Faun May 15, 2010

Ok fellow fashionistas, I started a blog and now I have to commit to making it great. It’s been a while since my first post.. but I’m back, and I just spent a decent amount of money this past weekend at Zara on some new summer clothes. Florals are everywhere, and the variety of patterns that you can indulge yourself in is almost overwhelming. In my opinion, there is no better way to feel pretty and joyous in the summertime. I have to admit that although I do not consider myself a girly girl, florals are probably my favorite clothing patterns.

Although some of us have figured out the best ways to mix and match patterns to look as fashion-forward and trend-setting as possible, others still cringe at the idea of wearing patterns that we may have seen our grandparents sporting back in the day. If you feel granny-like wearing floral patterns, remember that there are many ways to freshen up this look. Accessories and different fits are the greatest ways to maximize swag and sexiness when wearing such items.

The easiest way to pull off this look is with accessories. If you want to try out some flower power and keep the look low key, try wearing a simple outfit and adding a pop of colour with a fun scarf or hair accessory. I posted my top pics in terms of accessories, but visit ALDO ACCESSORIES for a little taste of floral heaven.. you will not be disappointed!

The following pieces can be found at a store near you.. without breaking the bank. I navigated the waters of the world wide web to bring you some of the best deals and best bang for your buck.

This floral scarf can shockingly be found at Old Navy for only $12.50. A great purchase and a perfect way to jazz up a t-shirt and jeans.

Another scarf from Old Navy, also $12.50

Bobby pins. Banana Republic. $12.00. Add some flower power to your luscious locks.

These flower studs from Aldo accessories are SO cute. It's $8 for the pair.. you really can't go wrong with that low of a price.

This denim flower hearband could not be a greater accessory for the summer. When the humidity and the wind get the best of your hair efforts, you have no choice but to sport a pony-tail or ballerina bun. Add some summer flavor and use this hair elastic.

I'm going to need to get over my online shopping phobia and order these darling flats from sweetcloset.com. $69.95

If you want to go bigger, try a floral cardi or dress. For an ultimate fashion statement, make your bottom the focal point of your outfit by opting for floral patterned jeans, leggings, or a skirt. There are ways to tone down a garden inspired canvas, for example if you opt to rock a floral mini (with the high liklihood that it was also be fitted), try pairing it with black cardi, or a cool belt. Doing so will add instant youth to your look. Here are some great finds:

This floral cardigan is amazing. It would look great with a black or burnt orange top, and dark skinny jeans.

This Floral Zip Back Racerback from Urban Outiftters is a great find. Wear it with leggings, a long necklace, and a leather jacket to give it some extra edge. The zipper in the back is a great detail. $28.00

Also from Urban Outfitters, the one-shoulder detail on this dress can show off a little skin - and with a belt at your waist you can show your feminine figure in this fabulous frock. $78

This UO dress would look very sexy with a black blazer and some great heel. Only $58 from Urban.. and you can wear it with leggings in spring and fall!

For the more daring fashionistas out there, these leggings can be found at American Apparal for $55. To tone it down, try it with black flats and a long top.

These Urban Outfitters jeans can only be purchased online... a large concern for those wanna-be online shoppers. You can read reviews of people who have already ordered them on the uo.com site, which may help you make your purchase desicion. In any case, they are fabulous.. I want a pair!

Like a Virgin… May 3, 2010

Lace and jewellery has been trending since the 80's thanks to Madonna

So after following my favorite fashion blogs religiously for about a year now, I’ve decided the time has come to start my own. Every day, I find myself inspired by something and wanting to share it with someone. Up until now, I’ve turned to my trusty blackberry to bbm my besties; now I want to extend the reach to anyone interested in fashion who may come across this blog. It’s my first time blogging, and I am continuously fascinated by the one and only Madonna, so I was inspired to share her most recognizable look, which came from the “Like a Virgin” era (this title also happens to express quite accurately my experience in blogging). I LOVE wearing lots of jewellery together. It makes a statement even if you’re only wearing jeans and a t-shirt. In my opinion it’s the best way to jazz up a casual outfit.

“When I was little, every day after school I would come home and put in her The Immaculate Collection disc and karaoke to it around the whole house.” — Lindsay Lohan recreates Madonna’s 1984 MTV Video Music Awards “Like A Virgin” performance for Glamour’s April Icons Issue in celebration of the magazine’s 70th Anniversary, on newsstands Tuesday, March 10th.Photo Credit: Brigitte Lacombe for GLAMOUR. Miss SJP never disappoints. To rock the look, wear as many jeweled or pearl strands with chains as you like, just be careful not to overdo it.
